Chapter 12 Question

Here is the question for Chapter 12:

Summarize Katniss's feelings when she discovers Peeta may have abandoned her.

    When Katniss believes she has been abandoned by Petta, she feels angry at first, but also sad. She has just lost her only "friend" or person she knows other than as a contestant in the game. After though, I think she losses her sadness to more anger, and wants revenge for Petta going behind her back and making an alliance.

    Katniss is certainly surprised by the alliance between Peeta and the Careers. She thought she knew him better then that. There was definitely some underlying disappointment. Of course, there was Katniss's anger, as always. She might secretly have been hoping that he would align with her. I also sincerely believe that Peeta's strategic move galvanized Katniss to actually begin to make decisions that would help her do more then just survive in the arena.
