Chapter 13 Question

Rate who you think the most dangerous people to Katniss are in the game including gamemakers and audience.

3 comments:

  1. 1) The Gamemakers - Though they are not physically present in the arena, they have so much control over what occurs in the arena and Katniss's life and family that they are the largest force to be reckoned with.

    2) The Capitol Audience - The games are not only to keep the districts in line, but to entertain the Capitol. If the games did not have the support of this audience they would not be allowed. If the audience wants pain or violence, the Hunger Games will deliver.

    3) Peeta - Of course Peeta is on Katniss's side, but if he were to turn on her he could easily rip her apart because of all the secrets he knows about her.

    4) The Other Tributes - These kids are out there fighting for their lives and for their pride; most will do anything to win!

  2. 1) Katniss herself- Katniss has to keep herself in tune and in line or else she could end up seriously hurt or dead. Your greatest enemy will always be yourself and I believe that Katniss knows this very well. If she lets her emotions get ahead of her, then she will fail. As people we know ourselves better than almost everyone else so that also means that we can hurt ourselves the most. Katniss is indeed her biggest threat.

    2) The Gamemakers- Technically, the Gamemakers control everything in the games. They control food, water, elements and challenges. They even control when and how the tributes "stumble" upon each other. They could kill or save any tribute they please.

3)The Other Tributes- All of the tributes are fighting tooth and nail to win so they will want to get rid of Katniss.

4)Haymitch- Haymitch is a threat and a 'savior.' He could also determine how much of an advantage Katniss has over the other tributes by what he does and doesn't send to her in the arena.

    5) Peeta- Although Peeta isn't that much of a threat, he still is one due to the fact that he does love Katniss. He would do anything for her and when he does, she becomes sidetracked and unfocused leaving her vulnerable.

    6) The Audience- They are not that much of a threat because if Katniss can conquer all of her other demons then she can certainly please a blood thirsty audience.

  3. This is a very insightful comment, Hannah! I like the fact that you put Katniss' distracting emotions as a threat to her wellbeing in the games. I agree with that. However, because of the importance that the Capitol audience has in Panem society, they are a HUGE danger to the tributes. Their reactions to the Games can bring on instantaneous violence or even unexpected peace.
